NATE & SCHOOL LANGUAGES (5 1/2 YRS)

Over the weekend, S was inspired to draw a book, dedicated to her classmate Nate. She said sometimes he cries in class and she wanted to make a book to cheer him up. She started with her usual -- flowers and green swirls, but then started adding stick people, with horns and huge eyes. She labeled the book - good and bad. The bad people had glowing red eyes while the good people didn't. It's the first time momma has ever seen her draw anything like this, but knows that it was Nate inspired. Nate often draws comic-like books, with stick people fighting each other -- mostly good against evil.

In addition to having classmates inspire her books, some of her language has been also inspired by classmates. Sitting in the back seat of the car last week, talking to one of her animals, she said, "if you don't shut up, I'm going to punch you." Momma waited a little bit and heard S say it again and then said, "Hey, where did you learn to say that?" S responded, by laughing and giggling. Then added, "I'm only just pretending." More and more language like this has come up with her attending school (assuming she's getting it from school?).

Today, S said, "Lily G says alot of potty words." "Like what?," momma asked. "Hmmm. A lot of potty words," said S. "So, what do you do about it?," asked momma. "Nothing," says S. Momma responded with, "That's what I do. Just because people around me say them, doesn't mean I do."

PUMPKIN DAY (5 1/2 YRS OLD)

S had one of the best days in school ever this Wednesday, October 26. In the morning, she was dressed as a bat. Everyone was asked to dress up in their costume or dress weird.

When momma picked her up she was so excited and bubbly. She said, "momma, there was a party today at school!" "Yes, that's why I brought the popcorn maker," said momma. She went on and on about the popcorn (eaten with salt), the muffins (every one had 2 small ones), counting the pumpkins seeds, and the trip to the fire station that was only 2 blocks away. BTW, the pumpkin that Sarah brought to school had the third largest amount of seeds and it was the smallest pumpkin.

S had a very good day! Momma's not sure if there was any learning done, but definitely S had a great day!

TEACHER -PARENT EVALUATION (5 1/2 YRS OLD)

Momma attended her first parent-teacher evaluation today. It seems previous sessions were running late, pushing momma appointment later.

DISNEY (5 1/2 YRS OLD)

For S's fall break, momma, daddy and S headed down to Disney World for five nights and six days. There were two Not-So-Scary Halloween parties, one day at Epcot, one day at Animal Kingdom, one day at Magic Kingdom, and one day at Boggy Creek Air Boat ride, one trip to visit an old friend, Mariana Williams. Everyone had a blast, but tiring time.

On the last day, October 21st, S asked, "Hey, when do I turn 5 1/2 years old?" Momma did the math (incorrectly) and said, "Today, you turn 5 1/2 yrs old." S replied, "I thought you were going to take me out for donuts when I turned 5 1/2 yrs old?" S started looking disappointed but daddy jumped into the conversation by saying, "Well, you didn't get donuts but you got a trip to Disney World." Everyone burst out laughing when S seemed content that it was indeed better than donuts.
