NAKED BUTT (22 MONTHS)

Daddy calls S "naked butt" sometimes when she wandering the house without her training pants or diaper. Recently, she started calling herself that. Yesterday, she took off her white bear clothes and called him "naked bear."

What comes out of the mouth of babes, i.e. momma and daddy need to be careful what the says now.

EASTER (22 MONTHS)

S's first memorable Easter occured this past week. All the kiddos from her playgroup got together and did an Easter egg hunt. The eggs were mostly filled with stickers and toddler treats. The kiddos had great fun hunting the eggs. They would walk by the obvious egg laying in their path to pick up the egg hidden in the weeds.

S also had a great time at her cousin's Birthday party/ Egg hunt. Of course, that mostly meant riding on daddy's back and eating cupcakes.

S MOMMA (22 MONTH)

S is starting to give names to different people. When you ask her what her name is she says "S..." and when you ask her what momma and daddy's name are she says "S momma and S daddy." She does the same thing for her friends' parents. For example, she calls to Auntie Apryl as "Tess momma."

She's also started using the word "mine" correctly. How did she figure that out? She still uses the word "me" for "my" and it's so cute to hear her do it. Momma and daddy can't seem to keep up with her ever growing vocabulary.

BAA BAA (22 MONTHS)

S has starting singing more. It's very soft, but both momma and daddy find it amazing what she remembers and sings. She can sing "Baa Baa Black Sheep" (at least every other words) and she often changes the last three verses from "master, dame, and little girl" to "momma, daddy, and S" or to "mimi and poppy."

For a couple of weeks she was singing the song "No More Dirty Diaper Blues" from Elmo Potty Time, except it sounded like "Dirty Diaper, Dirty Diaper" so momma kept checking on her, until daddy pointed out that it was a song.

MOMMA'S FRUSTRATION (21 MONTHS, 3 WKS)

Momma keeps getting frustrated with S. Getting her out to the door is a wrestling match; there's going to the potty, pulling up panties or pull ups, putting on pants, wearing a jacket, putting on socks and shoes, putting down the toy, coming to the door, getting a snack cup, putting down the toy again, getting a drink, coming to the door again, getting out of the house, swinging in the swing, opening the car door, climbing into the seat, sitting down in the car seat, bribing her to sit down in the car seat, and then finally going! All of this can take up to an hour!

Once when mommy said, "let's go to the store," S responded with "S stay home." Momma was shocked that S knew those words to put into sentence and then frustrated that S would respond so. Momma has to remind herself that S is a busy toddler, busy with playing and doesn't want to go... when mommy does. Ah! Toddlerhood!

FALLING OFF THE GREEN CHAIR (21 MONTHS, 3 WKS)

S has a big cut across her cheek, one that looked like it might be stitches worthy. S got it from rocking violently back and forth on the green rocker by her crib right before bedtime. She rocked it so hard that she flew off, hit the small book shelf behind it, and landed head first in the small space between the case and her crib. She cried for quite awhile but finally did quiet down enough to go to sleep. Unfortunately, momma had to explain it all to daddy.

At least now (2 weeks later), the scab is gone and the cut actually looks like it's going to heal well.

WALKING ON HER KNEES (21 MONTHS, 3 WKS)

As the perpetual experimentalist, S has been walking on her knees. This started out of the blue. One day, she fell down to her knee and started walking on it. At first mommy thought she tripped, but then she kept doing this over and over.

Well, at least now mommy has convinced S that she should only do this on carpet. In the meantime, her knees are black and blue!
She's also mastered the bear walk and is trying out the crab walk.
