CROUP (2 1/2 MONTHS TIL 4 YRS OLD)

S got a case of the croup over the weekend. It turns out that the croup is a virus which causes the larynx to swell up. On Saturday night, S woked up several times coughing like she was choking and gagging and complaining that her throat hurt. After several times, she of this she would end up crying. After an eventful Saturday and Sunday night, Monday and Tuesday were quite peaceful. S's fever disappeared by Monday and despite a nagging cough, she was her energetic self on Tuesday, even though she skipped school.

Luckily for S, momma, and daddy that this case of croup was mild.

WRITING (2 1/2 MONTHS to 4 YRS OLD)

S has been asking to learn how to write. Now, momma has been making an effort to teach her; first by using the Kumon tracing book and holding her pencil correctly.

Now, that she's learning to write her letters, she's often frustrated by her effort. She often says, "it doesn't look right," even though momma is impressed by her efforts. S has become so disheartened and frustrated by her attempts. Momma is surprised to see S's perfectionistic side stop her from trying.

FUNNY THINGS (2 1/2 MONTHS TIL 4 YRS OLD)

S has been saying the funniest things...

In the car with momma, S was telling momma how she was gonna grow up and have alot of children. She was going to be a good momma. Daddy was going to be daddy of her babies and you, momma, are going to be dead.

Daddy and S were taking a bath together. S kept asking daddy, "Did you scrub between your leg?" And, daddy kept responding with "Yes, I did." After repeating this several time to each other, S finally said, "I mean, did you scrub your penis?"

Instead of saying, "oh, man," S has taken up saying "oh, sputter!" When asked what that means, she says it means "I hate it." Tonight when driving back from Chick Fil A, momma asked S to buckle up for the 20th time. S finally buckled up with the expression of, "Oh, sputter! I'm the slowest buckler in the whole world."

BABY DOLLS (3 1/2 YRS OLD)

S has taken to playing with her baby dolls within the past couple of months. She's played with them in the past off and on, but recently she plays "mommy" or "daddy" every day. Every day she takes one of her dolls, the purple one, Baby Jesus, or the other one (the one that's always naked) around the house. They need to be fed, bathed, clothed, put to sleep, or rescued. They often have to sit next to her in the car and recently put to bed with her too.

Momma's response to all of this is to tell S that she's going to grow up and be a good momma one day. With the caveat, that she has enough money to support her brood.

WHEN I GROW UP (3 1/2 YRS OLD)

S has started saying the phrase, "When I grow up." So far, when she grows up she wants to be a "songer," someone who sings songs. She wants to be a babysitter after the morning that we kept Alvie. Yesterday, she wanted to be an artist while making Valentine day card for Mimi and Poppy.

She also likes to say, "I'm taller than you," whenever she climbs up a chair, table, or daddy's shoulder to just let you know.

Momma can't believe how much time has gone past and S doesn't seem like her little girl anymore.
