WHERE'S BABY'S BELLY BUTTON

One of momma's favorite book to read "S" is "Where is Baby's Belly Button" by Karen Katz. On the page that asks, "Where's baby's belly button," momma always shows "S" her belly button and points out S's belly button. Now, when we get to that page, "S" smiles when momma points to her belly button. And, during bathtime, "S" tries to put her finger into momma's belly button.

"S" also knows where her ears are too. She probably knows alot more but is waiting to impress momma and daddy with her knowledge.

WALKING (51st WEEK)

After weeks of hesitantly taking one or two steps, "S" is now standing up by herself (without holding onto anything) and walking from furniture to furniture or momma. Pretty soon she'll be walking all the time instead of crawling. How incredible!

UH-OH (50th WEEK )

"S" learned her second sign language: "uh-oh." When she started throwing things down from her high chair or drop something, momma would exaggeratedly put her hand to her forehead and say "uh-oh" and laugh.

After a week or so of that, "S" started tapping the side of her head. At first, momma wasn't sure what was going on, but realized that "S" would tap the side of her head and then drop something from her high chair.

Now, "S" laughs when she taps the side of her head and drops things. What a cutie!

WALKING (49TH WEEK)

"S" has been fervently trying to walk. This past weekend she took 8-10 steps for the first time by herself from momma and daddy's bed to the bathroom door. She cruises around the furniture easily now and every day, she and momma walk around the house, holding on to momma's finger. "S" is so excited about walking that she tries to hold on to momma to walk when momma doesn't offer her a finger.

Soon... baby girl...soon!

POTTY TRAINING

After a hesitant beginning, "S" has started potty training. The goal is to get momma and daddy use to "S" signals and to get "S" comfortable on the potty. But, so far it's been a great bonding experience. It gives daddy and momma a chance to stop and be with "S." Daddy plays and talks to "S" and momma reads and sings to her.

There's still plenty of accidents but momma and daddy say that's ok and tell "S" to next time get momma or daddy and they will take her to the toilet.
