POTTY TRAINING ON (19 MONTHS, 2 WKS)

S has been consistently using the potty now for four days, mostly in the evening after dinner. She recognizes when she needs to go and wants her diaper off and really wants it off when it is wet or soiled. S still wants to stand when she poo-poo but is more agreeable to sitting down now. She still has not pee-pee in the potty but has come close twice now.

S gets a sticker when she uses the potty and is beginning to enjoy them. So far, the most effective reward has been cheering her on and telling family, friends, and her animals how successful she was.

All the books say that it will take up 6 weeks to 2 months for her to consistently use the potty. Momma and daddy expects alot of accidents until then. Momma can't believe potty training has begun! Wish us luck!

POO-POO IN POTTY (JANUARY 2, 2008)

S made her first poo-poo in the potty. During bath time, she wanted to go to the potty. It took 3 tries but on her third attempt, she did it! She was so proud of herself. Momma and S went around and told all her animals and Elmo the great news. They also called daddy and daddy called Mimi and Poppy and told them the great news.

S started potty training a couple of weeks before the holidays but momma took a break because of the holidays and started again today. S has been showing signs of potty training readiness. She can say "poo poo pee pee" when needs to go and doesn't like to have a dirty diaper on her.

Hopefully, this is a great beginning for her!

DADDY WORK, BYE-BYE (19 MONTHS, 1 WK)

Since the November, S walks around saying "Daddy work; bye-bye." It started when daddy was home for a week sick. S would say "Daddy sleep." But the following week when daddy was at work, momma had to explain daddy was at work. The expression, "Daddy work; bye-bye" became engrained when daddy went on a couple of business trips back to back in November and December.

Recently, when daddy was home from Christmas to New Years, S's favorite expression became "Daddy poo-poo" but it's now back to "Daddy work; bye-bye."

CHRISTMAS (19 MONTHS, 1 WK)

S's 2nd Christmas was very special. She was more interested in what was going on around her. She enjoyed pulling off the wrapping paper (at snail speed). She doesn't understand the concept of Christmas but has become enamoured with "snowman" this season. She enjoys looking at the inflatable snowman that is in front of the neighbor's house. Her favorite song is "Frosty the Snowman" and momma and daddy sing it two or three times every night, right before bedtime.

Her favorite gifts were the Elmo videos, the shopping cart, and Elmo (himself). S sleeps every night with Elmo.
